EXPLORE YOUR BODY'S MESSAGES

I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO WANT REAL ANSWERS.

I am “Alara” Amanda LaPlante, founder of Get Real to Heal®.

YOUR BODY HAS A STORY.

Sometimes what your body has been responding to can change the way you understand yourself.

Get Real to Heal® was created to help you explore the relationship between what’s happening in your body and what’s happening in your life.

Your health exists within the context of your experiences. Stress changes us. Relationships affect us. Loss leaves an imprint. So can years of pushing through, adapting, staying quiet, taking care of everyone else, or living in ways that no longer feel like our own.

The body can become part of that conversation.

Here, we give you a place to get curious about those connections without assuming that every symptom has one neat emotional explanation.

Sometimes the question itself opens a door.

What has my body been trying to get my attention about?

HOW GET REAL TO HEAL® HELPS

There are different ways to begin listening.

BODY MESSAGES

Start with what’s getting your attention.

Choose an area of the body and explore physical considerations, emotional themes, and questions connected to your experience. Notice what resonates and what may be asking for your attention.

WORK WITH US

THERE MAY BE MORE TO THE PICTURE.

When you’ve been searching for answers for a long time, health can start to feel like a collection of separate problems to solve.

A symptom gets attention. A test gives you information. A treatment gives you something new to try. You can know a great deal about the individual pieces and still wonder what you’re missing.

Your medical care belongs here. So does the life your body has been living.

What was happening when something began? What had you been carrying for years? What changed around the same time? What keeps showing up?

There may not be one simple explanation. There may be something worth noticing.

What else belongs in this conversation?

For more than twenty years, my health took me through autoimmune challenges, mental health struggles, debilitating fatigue, and endless appointments.

WHY I CREATED GET REAL TO HEAL®

selected
I became very familiar with the experience of leaving an appointment with something new to try and the same questions I had walked in with.

By 2013, I was 33 years old, and doctors were talking to me about the possibility of permanent disability.

Then came a Mother’s Day card from my seven-year-old son.

He had been asked to write about his mom and the things she was good at.

One of his answers was sleeping.

Kids have a way of telling the truth without knowing they’re doing it.

I remember looking at that card and realizing how much of our life had been shaped by my health. He knew me as a mom who needed to sleep because that was the mom he was experiencing.

Something in me became very clear.

I wanted my life back.
